Form

–S

One of the hardest things an ESL learner will go through is trying to acquire the third person singular form -s, such as: She performs ten surgeries a year.  It is thought that this form is so hard to acquire because it does not add anything to the meaning of the sentence, not using it does not interfere with communication.  Using or not using the –s will be viewed differently depending on which contexts and communities you are interacting with.  Nevertheless, in order to help you remember it, I would like to place it in the context of an American s uper hero, Superman.
